1970 to 2020! Cabinet Makeover
This was a really fun furniture makeover. The kind when you step back and look, you realize how much a coat of paint can totally transform a piece of dated furniture!
This was a custom order and she knew exactly what she wanted to do with her dated cabinet and I completely agreed! You can see the “before” pic here:
We both agreed that the cabinet definitely had an Asian style to it and she wanted a bold makeover. We decided on a pop of bright red and what a great decision we made!
The paint color is Barn Red by Dixie Belle Paints. I applied two coats of the red, lightly distressed the edges with 220 grit sandpaper, applied one coat of the Dixie Belle topcoat in flat and then applied their black glaze. The finishing touch was touches of the Dixie Belle gold gilding wax on the edges.
The red really complements the piece and allows all of that original hardware to shine!
