Antique Hall Tree Makeover

Happy Wednesday, everyone! Today I’m sharing a sweet makeover. My neighbor had this gorgeous old hall tree in her entryway. It had been handed down to her by relatives and although she liked the usefulness of it (and that it was a family piece), she wasn’t so keen on the dark wood finish.

We decided to change it up and take it from dark and kind of drab to bright and more suited to her modern home. It sits right inside her front door in her foyer and by painting it in white, we actually brightened up the whole space. I applied multiple coats of Annie Sloan chalk paint in the color Pure White. This is a brighter version of the other Annie Sloan white, Old White.

I then used 400 grit sandpaper over the entire piece to create a soft finish and 100 grit on the details to make them pop. It was sealed in Annie Sloan clear wax for a durable and hand rubbed finish.

A very simple makeover!
