Art Deco Jewel - Vintage Buffet Makeover
This is such a great piece of furniture and I am excited to share it with you all! I found it on a Facebook Marketplace listing and picked it up a few weeks ago. You can see in the pics that it was in okay condition but needed a ton of work. It had been stored in a barn and basically needed a good clean. A mouse had made its home in one of the drawers and that needed to be thoroughly scrubbed!
Here it is in its “before” condition…
I believe the details indicate that the piece is from the art deco age. They were originally hard plastic pieces that had been adhered somehow. But, as you can see above, the plastic was coming off. I carefully removed the scrollwork from the plastic and glued them back onto the piece. You can see below what I mean.
For this buffet, I used all Dixie Belle products. The base color is Evergreen, the details are highlighted in Collard Greens and the blending was achieved with adding Bunkerhill Bill into the mix. The details were then highlighted in Gold Gilding Wax and the entire piece was sealed in the Best Dang Wax in clear for that smooth, lovely finish.
The interior base was painted for a super clean finish and I used Hemp Oil on the interior and the drawers to give them back their sheen.
I hope you all like the Art Deco Buffet! It will be listed on my Etsy shop within the next day. Speaking of which, I dropped off the Antique Bombe Chest on Saturday to its new home in Richmond, VA!
