Cottage Dresser Makeover
This sweet dresser was painted in Dixie Belle Chalk Mineral Paint in the color Drop Cloth. It is a very pretty, soft creamy white and always pairs well with very old pieces.
The dresser was for a client, and she also wanted the mirror redone. We decided to not match the two, and instead stain the mirror a darker hue. I used No Pain Gel Stain in the color Walnut for the mirror.
The first step was to wipe it down and add wood filler to preexisting holes and dings. It was then sanded for a smooth finish to paint. The chalk mineral paint took 3 coats to cover fully. I did not use a primer because it really didn’t need one. I knew I was going to distress it and didn’t want the primer in the way.
I kept the original hardware, which I happen to love! The mirror was also orange in its original finish. This was a super easy fix. It took two coats of the No Pain Gel Stain in Walnut to tone down the orange and give it a richer finish. I used a sponge pad to apply the stain. I love the dresser and mirror together now.
I hope you enjoyed this very quick little makeover! There is a quick video on my YouTube channel showcasing the piece HERE!
