How To Paint Furniture at Home: Transforming Secondhand Finds Into Treasures!
Thank you to everyone who reached out by email and who commented on my post, Saying Goodbye To Our Dear Lucky Boy. Losing Lucky has been so hard and reading your kind words definitely softened the blow. I still expect him to be home when I open the front door, but at least my tears have stopped flowing. Painting makes me feel good and is an excellent release whenever I am stressed. I decided to paint this gorgeous old dresser that I bid on months ago at an auction on the Eastern Shore. It structurally is in great shape, with drawers that open and close easily. However, the veneer was broken and missing in places, and I knew I wanted to paint it.
I brought out two colors from Dixie Belle Paints, Bunker Hill Blue and Peacock. I mixed the two at a ratio of about one part Bunker Hill to two parts Peacock and applied as the first coat. I then went back and blended in the darker blue and the lighter blue individually on the drawers and mirror.
