Let Me Introduce Myself…

Welcome and thank you to my new readers and subscribers! Let me introduce myself… I am an old hat at blogging, and my previous site was The Painted Drawer. It was quite successful, and I kept that site going for 10 years. You can still hop over and take a look at my old posts, and I am very fortunate that many of my original, kind subscribers continue to follow me here. I mainly used Annie Sloan paints, as well as General Finishes. You can see some of my work below, as well as in my Portfolio.

I then had to take a break. Both for burnout reasons, and for the fact that we have 3 kids, and they all were about to embark soon into both high school and college (hence, tuition!) and I wanted to contribute more than I could by blogging and painting. I took a job at a local performing arts center, as administrator for the children’s chorus. It was the right choice for me, with benefits and a steady income, and the opportunity to meet new friends and develop new skills. However, I really missed being able to paint and to be creative and share. I decided to rebrand myself as Suzanne Bagheri Designs and come back and start all over. I am now a content creator for Dixie Belle paints and am enjoying learning all new products - new paints, new name, new site!

I am not a true furniture flipper, but more a furniture rescuer. I like working on pieces that are thrift store throwaways and enjoy bringing them back to life. I do, however, complete a ton of custom work, and these projects are completed at the customer’s request and criteria. I am a dual British/US citizen, and I favor the English cottage style. Faded edges, layered colors, soft prints, and hopefully choosing a paint or finish that complements its original design. I love my old, discarded finds and treat them all with respect.

This site will encompass more than painted furniture, but other interesting ideas to share with you all, such as watercolors, thrifted decor and (see below) the restoration of our cottage!

Another huge change is our new home in Secretary, Maryland. Secretary is located on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. It is a very old town, with its roots going back to 1662. Our little turn of the century cottage is giving me a ton of scope for many projects, and I will share them along the way. I plan to furnish it all with my thrifted finds, and although my husband and I are not 20 somethings, we definitely can handle a few good DIY projects (although refinishing the floors is giving us a run for our money). If you follow me on my YouTube channel, you will see the latest projects and how we are taking it room by room to restore and renovate!

I hope that you enjoy my site, and that you get a little creative inspiration while visiting!
