Pretty Posy and a Rustic Cabinet

Before I share the latest furniture makeover, let me share our newest addition - pretty Posy!

My daughter attends the University of Maryland, and one of her friends found Posy in the parking lot of a Lidl grocery store. She was covered in ticks and thirsty. They coaxed her out from under the parked cars and brought her back to their home. Once there, they quickly realized that Posy is pregnant. Poor baby mama, she is only a kitten herself!

The kids are not allowed pets in their rental and we took her in. She is now safe and sound in our house and we are giving her a comfortable area (in our bedroom upstairs and away from the dogs) where she can give birth. The vet told my daughter that she was not sure how far along she was, and she cleaned her up but that was all they could do at this time. Once she has her kittens, we can take her back for her shots and to be spayed. She also was checked for a microchip (just in case), and she did not have one.

Our dogs are one by one getting used to her! We love her and are very happy that we can give her a safe haven. Never a dull moment :)

Now on to the rustic cabinet! I think it had a rustic vibe to it, although it isn’t actually very old. It is from Pennsylvania House furniture and was part of a dining room set that a neighbor owned. They moved and their realtor called me, told me about their unwanted furniture, and I went round to pick it up.

I went with the color, Antebellum from Dixie Belle and am very happy with my choice. I like how it plays off the pewter color of the tin paneling insets. The piece was sealed in clear wax and I added brown wax around the corners for extra depth.

Here is a quick video and pics!
