Dark to Light - Vintage Buffet Makeover

Happy July 4th weekend! Here is a small project to share with you all before the weekend festivities begin!

This little vintage buffet is chock a block filled with detail. This is a commission piece and my customer wanted it to go from the dark black finish, to a lighter and brighter look. It took a few coats of Dixie Belle Cotton, Silver Gilding Wax, No Pain Gel Stain in Weathered White and Best Dang Wax in White to create the look.

Here are pics of the piece before I began working on it and again after I sanded back the top and added the gel stain.

The images below are after three coats of paint, sanding to smooth, adding the waxes and I also added the White Wax over the gray stained top. It gave it a softer, more “beachy” vibe. The drawer handles are new and I love the way the sparkle and give the piece a more modern and clean look.

Here is a fun TikTok video that I made with details on the little handpainted dresser that I finished last winter. I am starting to really enjoy my little TikTok videos :)
