My Painted Kitchen Countertops

I painted my kitchen countertops for the second time! The first time I only did one section of my kitchen and I honestly wasn’t thrilled with the resulting color. This time, I painted the other section during a Facebook Live and am sharing it with you. I can’t embed the actual video, but if you scroll down to the bottom of the page there is a link to the video and it will take you directly there. Apologies on the terrible sound quality. You need to turn up the volume and then you actually can hear me!
Here are a few “after” pics of my kitchen. I am SO happy this time. The color looks great and works well with my new Pergo floors!
The products and steps taken for my kitchen countertop project are below:
Clean well with a degreaser kitchen cleaner. Wipe down.
Apply Dixie Belle Slick Stick and allow 24 hours to dry.
Apply your base coat (Dixie Belle Chalk Mineral Paint in Driftwood)
While first coat is still damp, swirl and blend in your second color (DB Chalk Mineral Paint in Fluff)
While still damp, add touches of a darker color (DB Chalk Mineral Paint in Manatee)
Keep working the paints in until happy with the color and design.
Allow paint to dry overnight.
Apply Dixie Belle Gator Hide to countertops using the Gator Hide sponge. You can definitely use another type of sponge, but I really like this one best and it will make the job easier. Mix a dash of your color into the sealer if you painted your countertops in a dark paint color. It helps avoid any streaking.
After 24 hours, apply another coat of Dixie Belle Gator Hide.
Allow to dry and cure for 24 hours and you are done!

Another great project along these lines was painting my laminate floors in my powder room. You can see that project below!
